Sandra + David | All of the Lights
Toronto Weddings , January 7, 2012
This post was a long time coming. A few short weeks after Sandra and David’s wedding my wife gave birth to our first baby! (blog post will follow soon). Unfortunately that delayed Sandra and David’s photos longer than expected, but hopefully it was worth the wait ๐
My first meeting with Sandra and David was like getting together with old friends. We immediately talked about graduate school, living in Montreal and Toronto, their love for Kanye, and a lot of basketball. I couldn’t help but be excited as their wedding date drew closer, especially since it was my last wedding of the year.
The day started off with Sandra, her mother and her bridesmaids at Aveda Hair Salon. Aveda is a hair and beauty institute where students do your hair at a reduced cost. What a great idea! I was in need of a haircut, but I resisted sitting in a chair myself.
I then went with Sandra and her mother to The Bay for their makeup session with MAC. At this point we were starting to get a little behind schedule, but Sandra kept her cool. Once we were done, I acted as the impromptu chauffeur and drove them speedily, but safely, to her condo to change.
Once we got to the venue we squeezed in a great photo session. I couldn’t have been more thankful for the weather. It was gorgeous! Clear skies with only a hint of chill in the air. Couldn’t have asked for more from a mid-November wedding. And the sun … oh the sun … I love sunset photos.
Atlantis Pavilions is a great venue! The location is perfect for photos and access to the rooftop was like icing on the cake. The staff was great and the food spectacular (particularly the peking duck salad, mmmm).
The rooftop was a perfect spot for an emotional first look.
I have to give a shout out to Justin Croker of Solepower Productions for the superb job on the turntables, probably some of the best music selection I’ve heard. He really got the crowd going and never let down. As I was about to leave he started to pump out the 90s hiphop …. I really didn’t want to leave.
Sandra and David, what can I say, you two are great and it was my pleasure to have gotten to know you both better. The year couldn’t have ended on a better note. Best wishes for the future!
