Sayuri + Shaun :: an University Club of Montreal Wedding
International Weddings , February 8, 2017
First wedding of the year!!! Woohoo!!! I’ve been itching to start shooting again.
The winter break provides a lot of time to rest and reflect on my work, so I often have the creative juices flowing for my first wedding of the year. S+S provided me with the perfect canvas to get a little crazy.
I often avoid winter weddings. Those that know me well know that I am not a fan of the cold. The puffy winter jacket comes out when it’s below 10 degrees and the second layer of pants are on when it’s below zero. Needless to say, I was super bundled up for this wedding. Regardless, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect, hovering around zero degrees making it as warm as possible without having all the beautiful snow melt in to mush. Sayuri was a trooper with only a handmade shawl.
All in all, this Montreal wedding rocked. It was a comfortable ~60 guests which made it more intimate and memorable. We started with the reveal at Hotel Le Germain, then strolled through McGill campus for photos on our way to Birks Chapel for the ceremony. Afterwards we all walked to the University Club of Montreal for the reception. Everything was walking distance! Which meant more time to spend with family and friends.
Everything about the wedding was very personal, simple and elegant. Family helped to fit the dress for Sayuri. A friend officiated the ceremony. Another friend provided the music at both the ceremony and reception. No DJ required! (btw, she was phenomenal! check her out at Maude Carrier). University Club had so much character that the necessary decor was minimal. I am glad to see more weddings taking a more intimate approach. Everyone felt so involved and they partied their hearts out.
I enjoyed every single moment of this wedding. Here is a little glimpse of the day.
Special thanks to my second shooter Mat for helping out! I had a blast!
