Melissa + Andrew | The Show Stealer
International Weddings , November 19, 2012
I first met Melissa and Andrew a week before their wedding day. I’ve never met a couple so close to the big day, but it was a special situation since both were residing in Alberta. Naturally, our first interactions were all through email (my favourite method of communication). But how does someone in Alberta find someone like me? You see, when you grow up in a small town everyone seems to know everyone (in this case I called it the Huntingdon-Ormstown-Havelock trifecta!). Melissa found me when she saw her friend Angela’s wedding photos from a year back. Interestingly enough, there was also a connection with Jeannie, who’s wedding was only a month prior … and who’s bridesmaid was Angela’s sister … and who’s groomsman was at Melissa’s wedding … who was once in a movie with Kevin Bacon. Okay, maybe not that last one, but I have 3 more degrees to make that connection.
Our first meeting was for a family shoot. This is where I finally got to meet Melissa, Andrew and the little cutie petutie Caleb. They were full of excitement for what was coming, as well as the chance to spend some time with all the relatives.
We started with the ladies while Melissa put on what was probably the most classy wedding dress I’ve ever seen. Oh and the flowers, they were awesome too! They had what looked like strands of wheat coming out of the bouquet adding tons of character. I knew instantly this Fall wedding was going to be spectacular!
The church in Huntingdon (Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church) was full of charm and had huge windows with light pouring in, a photographer’s dream! This is where Caleb stole the show. After Melissa walked down the isle, he then proceeded to shake hands and thank each row for coming. What a charmer! I love this kid!
The rest of the day speaks for itself. It included a classic car, golden sunlight, a friend’s rendition of Purple Rain, crazy kissing games, a spontaneous YMCA performance, and of course laughters and tears.
