Anusha + Pouyan :: Part 1 :: An Ottawa Hindu Wedding

A while ago I had the opportunity to photograph an Ottawa Wedding with Sam of Sam and Mary Photography. Sam and Mary are an extremely talented duo. I was excited to shoot along side Sam, but what I didn’t expect was to be part of such an awesome wedding. A+P’s wedding was so spectacular I had to split it into two posts. This first post covers the early morning Indian ceremony. I’ll shortly follow it with their jaw-dropping reception at the Museum of Civilization.

This was one of my first South Asian weddings so I was immediately enamored with all the colours, details, and traditions. In particular, my favourite part is the “first look” as a sheet of fabric is held between the bride and groom at the beginning of the ceremony. Once it is removed they see each other for the first time. The reaction and emotions are priceless.
