Hayley + Matt | All You Need is Love
Toronto Weddings , July 29, 2012
I was pumped for this wedding. I couldn’t wait. I couldn’t contain my excitement! Maybe it was because this would be the furthest I’ve traveled to shoot a wedding. I know, it’s not that far. Collingwood, a mere 2 hours north of Toronto. (Does that make me a “destination photographer”? I’d say so, haha). Or maybe it was that I knew Hayley put so much effort into some Do-It-Yourself details (I love shooting detail shots). I don’t know what it was, but I was pumped for it, and I have the same feeling for this blog post! There were just too many photos to choose from. I have a habit of including too many photos in my blog posts (I’m just too attached to them!). Luckily Julie helps me bring down the number with her unbiased eye.
In case you haven’t notice, a lot of my wedding post titles are also song titles. This one was easy because Hayley and Matt are huge … I mean HUGE … Beatles fans. The Beatles influenced every part of their wedding day and they were infused in all the DIY decor and details (as you will see). Hayley even took her bouquet to John Lennon’s memorial in New York City during their honeymoon. To suit the mood they requested a more vintage look to their photos and I was happy to oblige. You’ll see that these photos were edited slightly different from my other weddings with heavy inspiration from film photography of days past.
The day started at the salon, Strands, where the ladies were getting ready. Strands is a great salon. When I first walked in I was offered a glass of homemade lemonade, my favourite drink! They also served a platter of pastries and fruit. What a great start!
Hayley was really nervous about her speech, working on it until the last minute. But I don’t see what she was worried about because she just blew everyone away with one of the most heartfelt speeches ever.
Family is so important to both Hayley and Matt. You can see just how important in this tribute to their family tree … a collection of old wedding photos. What an amazing idea!
Do you love the Beatles? Drop a verse of you favorite song in comments below! (this was their kissing game throughout the night; I’m sure it carries over, haha)
Amazing wedding! Great job, James. I love the angles of your photos and how you have used the light in some situations.
Thanks Amy! Are you back in town? We have to catch up!
I was back but I leaving again tomorrow... ewww! Let's catch up in September when I come back!
