Engaged! :: Annah + Frank

Engaged , August 22, 2011

When it came time for Annah and Frank’s e-shoot, they weren’t sure what to expect. It can be a little awkward to have your photo taken in a public place with strangers walking by; so it’s only natural to be a little shy. That’s how it was when Julie and I had out e-shoot a couple of years back (wow, already a couple of years, time flies!). We’re not one for “PDA”, so we often fell into awkward stares and then silly giggles. But it’s the silly giggles that often become my favourite photos because it’s such a natural reaction. After a few shots you get used to it all and it starts to feel like the camera isn’t really there.

That’s how it was for Annah and Frank. It was clear they were a little uncomfortable at first, but that’s why having an e-shoot can be so important. It’s like a trial run for your wedding day; with so much going on during your day, the last thing you need is to spend time getting comfortable in front of the camera. The e-shoot gets that out of the way. You see how it’s going to feel, learn what to do, and get to know your photographer so there’s no surprises when the day comes.

On my side, I love e-shoots as a way to get to know my couples. I like hearing about how they met and their hobbies. I realize how lucky I am to get to know such interesting people. Annah is foodie and a traveler, two of my favourite things! Annah likes to make her own beer, can you believe that!? Frank is one lucky guy, haha.

Since they both like to take walks along the Plateau area, it was the perfect place for a photo session. Some shots at the park and some along the residental area.

Naturally, we stopped for ice cream. This is becoming a trend ;P

The plateau has tons of interesting artwork in random places.

Both Annah and Frank were hesitant to have an e-shoot at first. Somehow they went for it and in the end they were both glad they did. Although their wedding will be more about food and family, they told me they feel more comfortable now that they know what to expect. I’m looking forward to their laidback affair next month!
